2011 another year's worth
The Chapter collected aluminum cans for recycling to thetune of $500.00 worth which went into our foodbasket fund. Many thanks to Patty Fisher for spearheading this project and all the hard work she put in to make it a success.
We solicited funds the weekend of Memorial Day at the Ellet IGA Foodstore and gave all who donated an American Flag. Of course, any children with them were also presented with a flag.Manythanks to Chester Mounts fo driving this project.
We have continued to support numerous Native American Pow Wows in the state and also worked with indian centers in the state.
The Chapter is also in an active mode to advise the older Veterans about their benefits and assist them in obtaining them. It seems the WW2 and Korean time frames are the ones who are unaware of the benefits they paid for and how valuable they are at this stage of life.
We participated in the Veteran stand down held at the VFW Post on Waterloo Road in Akron.
We will once again providing and delivering foodbaskets this holiday season to the WIDOWS of Veterans. These are the forgotten ones.
We will also be providing treats for the Veterans who come to the Akron VA Outpatient Clinic. Donuts, cookies and many other treats will be there for them. Last year it was very well received. Many thanks to Joe Easterling an Bruce Hestley for driving this one.
And who could forget, we had our annual picnic at Kim Tam park this year. Turn out was great, food was good and a good time was had by all.
