Our members and associate members have served on the local, state, and national levels of VVA as officers, board members and committee members.  We also have participated greatly on the local levels with members who are Veteran Service Commissioners and members of Foundations.  We have recently established a relationship with Altrusa International, a  professional women’s organization, on the local level with the Akron Club.  Together we have completed our yearly food basket program, which consists of obtaining a list of needy Veterans from the Veterans Service Commission of needy families, and supply them with food baskets, which provide food for several days.  Last year Altrusa International, Akron Club, also provided at least one gift for every child in those families.  They have also helped deliver those same food baskets to those families, and in some cases purchasing gift cards at grocery stores in the area for the more needy.  This relationship with them has proved to be an excellent partnership for both groups.  Several associate members have joined their ranks and become board and committee members in Altrusa.  

The Chapter has continued its long-standing close relationship with VVA Chapter 616, a Veterans Incarcerated Chapter located in the Mansfield Correctional Facility in Mansfield, Ohio.  We provide support and a means of outside contact for the Veterans therein, while helping with their many projects.
